HISTORY OF BOOKSHOP ON THE AVENUE
Established in 1990 Bookshop on the Avenue is a store locally owned by Walt and Maggie. With three floors of over 130,000 books, and over 7000 movies and vinyl's they are stocked with genres from science fiction to religion to children's books and more! They pride themselves on their affordable rates for unique books. A locally loved and celebrated store Bookshop on the Avenue holds ideals of community support, keeping money in the community by spending money at local businesses. Keeping low affordable rates, implementing a buy, sell or trade program. And love for a good story.
Walt and Maggie
Walt Carey is the owner of Bookshop on the Avenue Married on May 26, 2010 to Maggie Carey who was a Former Teacher-librarian at Campbell County School. Both share a love for books, learning, and a devote faith for their Lord and Savior. Walt, a Lynchburg native, graduated from the University of Lynchburg. He holds immense pride for his home and family and he believes that everyone deserves and has a good story to tell.
We seek to show love to each story, welcoming it and giving it a home.
